Oh my I hope that i do this right and don't do any goofs in responding to this. In fact, I hope that I've responded to the right e-mail addy.
Anyways, I had a nasty case of engorgement with my first baby. At 3 days pp I couldn't hand pump, electric pump nothing but a few measly drops would come out. I went from a 38c to who knows how big!? My armpits were huge and I had 2 bolders on my chest, there was no extra skin to bear. I had no idea they could get that big. I tried heat to no avail, so I ended up icing my breasts for an entire day to reduce the swelling in hope that my nipples could release the milk. At the end of the day I got into a very hot shower and the milk began to flow, in fact it shot across the shower for over 5 minutes and then it continued to FLOW for over a half hour (I fed baby and pumped). I think that the icing helped in my case as I feel that my tissues were swollen and I needed to reduce that for my milk to be able to come out. Hope this helps.
