A note about one of the organizations listed as a resource in a previous
post:
> 1. Depression After Delivery is a national volunteer
> organization which provides a support network and
> printed materials for anyone interested in PPD.
> Their hotline # is 800 - 944-4PPD (4773). Regular # is

I had a long conversation with a staff member of this organization who
was at a Baby and Toddler Expo at which I had a table for LLL. I was
very disturbed to discover that she had never heard of Thomas Hale or
his book and gave the advice (according to her) that most
antidepressants are not safe for nursing mothers. I then found that
there were no IBLCEs on staff or in an advisory capacity at this
organization. I found it extremely disturbing that one of few resources
for moms with PPD (in the Philadelphia or any area) was giving out
dangerously bad advice and did not appear to me to have a properly
trained staff.
Just thought I'd share this experience. I do not refer clients to that
organization.
