Hello to all. After searching the archives, I cannot find any information
regarding human milk allergy in relation to what my client is experiencing.
Baby is 2 weeks old, thriving, weight gain WNL, Stools and voids WNL, NO
VOMITING, no GI involvement, except for gassy episodes. The only concern she
has is that the baby always sounds congested. Her ped told her that the baby
was allergic to her milk! She had problems with her now 2 year old, but those
included reflux and GI symptoms. When the other child was put on the gamut of
formulas the problems did not abate anyway! Mom dealt with a very gassy and
uncomfortable baby. Hence, she is very reluctant to stop breastfeeding at
this time and would like some imput. She is an "overproducer," so we
discussed hand expression to supply the baby with more hindmilk and keep the
baby from choking and this has worked beautifully for 2 days then the
gassiness started again. She is using saline drops to help with the
congestion. I did suggest an ENT opinion as her other two children have had
tubes done. It couldn't hurt. Thanks in advance for any input.
