Out of my field, but since no other answers have come forth:

BSMT=Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology

ASCP I believe stands for American Society of Clinical Pathology, which
is the organization that sets standards and I think conducts examinations
for laboratory technicians.

(I think this was recently described on LN comparing the early growth of
that discipline to what is currently happening with IBLCE's progress in
helping bring some standardization to the LC profession.)

I hope someone with this professional background corrects me if I have it
wrong.
