"Can someone tell me if there is any "strict" rule about this, or is it
mostly custom? I was always under the impression that the credentials
were usually listed in order of their chronological attainment, with of
course, bachelor's degrees left off if master's was obtained, and
likewise, master's not noted if PhD attained, etc."

Actually, I was taught in my graduate program that one should first
list any licensure or legal designation, then academic degree and then
any specailty certifications. Thus I always say RN, MS, IBCLC.....

To be honest I do not know where this formaility hails from but it does
seem a common way of listing credentials. Does anyone know?

Susan
