Dear Wendi,

I too had my daughter refuse some of my human milk
that was stored.  I put a drop or 2 on my tongue and
it burned.  I would call it more of an acid type burn.
 I threw it out.  In fact I had to throw out several
pre-made storage bags of human milk because obviously
the temperature had changed in my refrigerator or
freezer at one point to have soured the milk.  No more
problem after I got rid of the soured stuff and began
to store a new supply that was very closely monitored.


If you want to monitor your frozen milk you can place
a small cup of water in the freezer and after it is
frozen place a penny on top of the frozen liquid.  If
the penny ever changes its position or gets liquid
above it you know that there was either a power outage
or someone left the door slightly ajar.  I dont know
how to monitor for any temperature changes in a
refrigerator.
