Beth writes;
>>7 month old baby who has had one sided nipple pain for
the last month.
She
describes it as sharp, shooting pains that radiate through her breast
and "come right out the patch on her nipple". She also has a small lump at
12:00 at the edge of the areola.<<
I know you tried gentian violet but you don't say for how long and of course
it could still be yeast, just requiring a longer treatment.
Is the lump consistent with a clogged duct? If so, they sometimes require
vigorous massage. If you think it could be, this could explain the shooting
pains as well. I might try a few days of ibuprofen- will decrease the
probable inflammatory process, along with Dr. Jack's APNO, see archives if
you are unfamiliar.
A consistent lump WITHOUT coinciding pain would be more suspect.
