For what it is worth, I recall my pediatrician
mentioning the Tri Vi Sol for my bf kids. Since I had much
more experience in the bf department than he did, and he
was able to acknowledge that, we had a conversation about
it, and I never gave them the vitamins. I don't know if
he continued to recommend it to bf patients after that,
but I doubt it.
When my third child was an infant, we were living overseas,
he was born at 4.5 lbs (full term but small for gestational age)
spent 3 weeks in a NICU (there are some good bf stories there too,
but I'll save them for another post). A couple of weeks after he
came home, they did a blood test and his iron was very low.
At that point I did give him some iron supplement for a time,
till his iron came back up. Had no problems after that.
