This baby will benefit more than a healthy baby would, from getting his
mother's milk. It is impossible to predict the extrauterine course on the
basis of antenatal diagnosis. If he gets appropriate food he may well
recover much more quickly from the surgeries, and there is every reason to
make an effort to have breastmilk available to him BY BREAST when and if he
is ready to nurse.
What harm could it possibly do for her to express while waiting?
Good luck.
Rachel Myr, Norway
