I agree with so much of Phyllis's reply about this.   But I wanted to add
something that I forgot to make explicit in my previous post.  It's
important, in trying to change not only the *knowledge* of these questioners
but also their *intuition*, to have the references you wan to give them
really ready to hand, right on the spot.

The deuterolanguage of handing them *immediately* something that proves them
wrong is that everybody knows this and its obvious and get with the program
please (though of course actual spoken words always need to be gracious).
But the deuterolanguage of having to go and research it and send it along
next week is that it is obscure and academic and not anybody's normal
intuition when the really deal with their patients and their practice and
their real lives.

(this is an offshoot of Diane W's insight that "special" is weaning advice,
and "normal" is what we always need to convey)
