Ellen, you misunderstood me. Of course I wouldn't advocate letting the
artificial milk rep come into the hospital and teach mothers anything.
But, when I see her putting up an invitation to all the nurses for a study
day on breastfeeding, that is when I let her know what I think about them
teaching about breastfeeding. I strongly suggest that they give a study day
to nurses on how to teach bottle feeding mothers to prepare and feed the
stuff. I will mention to her that they should adopt breastfeeding behavior
as the standard!!
Many of our nurses breastfed their babies and also never really prepared
bottles, and the ones who did give artificial milk did it a zillion years
ago when they used to give 2/3 water, 1/3 cow's milk and sugar, or whatever.
Interesting that the Similac lady now comes on the day that I don't work!!
