I have a new patient, a 34 weeker, born about 36 hours ago by c-sec for
breech presentation after SROM [spontaneous rupture of membranes] to a G1P0
mom. She has an NG tube and today is breastfeeding pretty well with a nipple
sheild. Once she can prove that she can eat adequately and stay warm at the
same time, I will send her home. In the mean time, I want to give mom some
literature on what to expect in terms of breastfeeding. All the stuff I have
is about normal term babies or sick NICU babies or geared towards HCPs.
Nothing about the "it may take a week or so but then I think baby will do
pretty well" kind of situation. Does anyone know of any web sites or
available hand-outs in english that would be useful?
