you asked what i think re the athlete mom with the 2 wk old baby slightly
under birthweight. I would not really attribute this to her athleticism. I
would just do a consult like I usually do. Did she have pregnancy breast
growth, what was her milk surge (engorgement) like? Observe feeding, I would
do a pre and post feed weight. Sometimes the baby is having dirty diapers
but the stool volume is low. What was the history of jaundice etc. Maybe
they got off to a slow start and have not been bf really effectively and mom
needs a little help with supply. In other words, I would look for horses,
not zebras.
