I have an online friend expecting her third child. With both prior
deliveries, she was unable to nurse due to severely inverted nipples.  She
did seek help, used shells, and tried with each child for several months to
nurse, but ended up pumping and bottle feeding both.  She is somewhat
discouraged already, prior to delivery, as she encountered an attitude of
"if you can't do it right, don't do it at all" attitude.  I don't know where
she sought help, so I have no idea if it was just a friend, or LLL, or an
IBCLC.  She wrote to me asking me about shields, and I encouraged her to
seek help from an IBCLC who knows her stuff before delivery, and I offered
to help her find someone.  I know there are directories out there, and in
fact I referred her to one such listing, but I thought a fellow LactNetter
might be a good resource.
