Janie writes: "I was happy to hear the honest admission that Kathleen Bruce
receives money from Medela. Now, I just want a full disclosure of how much
per year."

At the risk of getting a nasty note from Kathleen or Rachel, or one of the
other list mothers, I must say -- IT IS NONE OF YOUR DAMN BUSINESS JANIE,
how much money Kathleen earns from Medela per year for answering desperate
mothers' questions on-line and hleping them to be successful at
breastfeeding. It's none of your business how much anybody gets from pump
companies, for that matter. People on LactNet are free to post about what
pumps they have found useful, which they have found not useful, which
companies are allied with formula companies, which companies use misleading
advertising, etc.

It may have escaped your notice that LactNet is a free service, and all of
the hours of time, effort, and emotional energy that go into keeping LactNet
running for the benefit of all mothers and babies and lactation consultants
are provided as VOLUNTEER WORK by Kathleen Bruce and the other list mothers.
The list mothers do not censor people who post negative opinions of
Medela, nor do they encourage people to post negative opinions of White
River. White River generates those comments all by itself.

Elena Medo used to be the founder/ownder of White River. Dr. Gordon posted
that she is no longer associated with the company, and has now started this
other business of processing and selling human milk.

And just for the record, I have eaten meals provided by both Medela and
Hollister at conferences. I don't accept money from formula companies or
bottle companies.
