When working in UK - Bristol - I can tell you hiring out pumps was a nightmare! We kept cost very low or waved it but I can tell you we lost so many pumps. All sorts of excuses form , already returned, lsot, lent to friend, dog chewed it etc. etc. Trying to keep track of pumps was hard work and one of the NICU's stopped loaning or hiring pumps because of this. Guess which unit had the highest rate of mixed feeding!
Pumps can be expensive especially if you really don't want to breastfeed in the first place.
