There are explanations other than breast cancer to explain prenatal bleeding
from the nipple, however, unilateral, spontaneous bleeding from a nipple is
a red flag for breast cancer that can't be ignored.
There is one case report of nipple bleeding due to overly aggressive
prenatal performance of Hoffman's technique to stretch inverting nipples.
Also, The preterm labor may have triggered lactogenesis and if the mom has
an intraductal papilloma she may have rusty pipe milk a bit early rather
than in early postpartum.
There may be no way to calm her down but to suggest she have the tests
performed asap so she can find out what's going on and relax.
