My very first post to Dr. Jack Newman when I joined Lactent was
"another reason to breastfeed is to avoid fluoridated formula."  Here in
the US 65% of the population is now exposed to a fluoridated community
water supply.  The UK is also fluoridated in various parts.

Moms who mix up powdered formula are never told to buy bottled water
without fluoride, except that now in Toronto, Canada a dental professor,
Hardy Limeback, has sounded the warning.  In fact, water companies are
deliberating marketing a .7ppm fluoridated baby water to mix with
formula!

This is in spite of a 15 year study published in 1995 in Teratology and
Neurotoxicology on the neurotoxicity of sodium fluoride to the brain.
This was the first ever toxicity study by the dental profession and they
fired the woman Phd, a Harvard graduate, because she published it.

In the rat model, this 15 year study proved ADD and ADHD symptoms
depended on pre and/or postnatal exposure.  The Phd who did the study,
Phyllis Mullenix took her own children off city water in Massachusetts
and threw away fluoridated toothpaste due to concerns of years of
overexposure in her own children.

Then need we ask why the numbers of Rx of Ritalin here in the US!

Babies raised on fluoridated formula purposefully or unintentionally
will
definitely not reach their full potential.  Some dentists speculate that
Baby Bottle Tooth Decay is really primary teeth dental fluorosis and
lack of enamel formation in susceptible children.

The flurodiated city of Tacoma WA just had an article in their sports
section this spring--about all the crack high school athletes having ACL
tendon breaks--five in one school.  The coaches are asking "what is
going on?" and have no idea that their 30-year history of fluoridation
is taking a toll on their kids tendons and ligaments.  It has been put
down into their bone and connective tissue since bottlefeeding age.

Human breast milk has only 1/100th of the fluoride in formula.  The
breast
keeps it that low even if the mother is drinking it.  Unfortunately, it
does cross the placenta during pregnancy to cause harm.

Formula feeding creates a cascade of risk that we are just beginning
to understand.
