Hello,
My nurse friend has a dilemma. She is 32 weeks pregnant, her baby has a
lymphatic block, and has had fetal surgery to place a chest tube to drain the
fluid from the chest cavity. The neonatologist has told her that she wants
the baby to have progestimel the first 24 hours after birth, because the fat
molecules are too small in breast milk, and may be absorbed into the lungs.
This nurse has exclusively breastfed three other babies, and is alarmed that
the first food her baby would receive would be artificial baby milk. Has
anyone heard of this theory? Is it valid? Your help is much appreciated.
