I believe that sudafed and benedryl are 2 different families of
antihistamines.  Many antihistamines seem to work   for one person and not
another, or different amounts are needed.  Response to antihistamines is
very individual.  If it bothers your milk supply then don't use that
particular family or try another avenue (someone mentioned some homeopathic
