I have seen this before. Mom has recuperated from childbirth and is back to
work, feeling fine and does not spending enough time " connecting " with the
baby when they come home from the hospital. I have seen a mother drop off her
baby at the day care ( from the hospital) because she had to get back to work
( it was lunchtime). They often start decreasing the amount of pumping, and
if they are back at work, they pump maybe twice a day, nurse about 3-4 times
during the evening and night and there just isn't enough stimulation.
I suggest they pretend they just gave birth, and curl up in bed with the baby
for a few days and enjoy being waited on by Dad and grandparents. Often the
caring friends have stopped bringing food and offers of help have stopped.
Friends and family need to remember to treat her like a "new" baby even if
she is 6 months old.

(who isn't really sure how much sense that makes--I am in a panic with
wedding details and got on here to try to escape!! The wedding guest list is
growing by the mile-we are discovering relatives we haven't seen in years who
are thrilled to be making this into a family reunion. Which is ok I think
since we are only doing finger foods and have a huge civic center but I am
still in a PANIC!)
