>It's surely been mentioned before, but I know several employed mothers

It may also work to buy a sports bra - if she wants to put it on over her
other clothing she can buy one that zips up the front - and cut two holes
for the flanges, using ordinary scissors. Start small with the holes, and
enlarge them as needed, making them small enough to support the flanges but
large enough that the flanges can be slipped through them from the outside.
The stretchy fabric doesn't seem to fray or run.
If the bra has a snug fit, the flanges are held in position really well, at
least for the smaller breasted women who've tried it so far. One mom even
felt she got more milk when she used this set-up, because the flanges were
held evenly and continuously and there was some degree of uniform breast
compression.
Add a battery pack so she can carry the pump in a sling, and the mom has a
*completely* portable system - no hands, no sitting down needed. Sports
bras can be had for under $10, which makes it worth experimenting. (But if
you get the zipper one in black, the whole set-up looks *really* kinky!)
