Sorry, I am way behind on all email, not just Lactnet.
The AAP, CDC, WHO, NIH all agree that Hepatitis C is NOT a contraindication
to breastfeeding.
In San Diego we are the surrogate capital of the world, and have had several
gay couples (mostly male) having babies. Almost all of them love Kangaroo
care. One father asked about the SNS, but decided it was too much trouble.
All have asked the surrogate female to supply "donor" milk for the first few
weeks. One father asked re hormonal therapy for him to produce milk. He
decided not to after I explained some of the side effects of estrogen patches.
