Thank you to those of you who e-mailed me!
I too have seen large "clusters" of plugged ducts, this was more defined in
shape than what I've seen/palpated before, felt like a big rounded disc of
really bad engorgement. I spoke with Mom this am, and after pumping for a
hour at hosp last night when she saw me, she went home and took a really hot
bath, during which she had some major let downs, she pumped and fed her 5
month old a lot, and woke up this am with it completely gone! She does now
have a small lump on the other(inner) side of that same breast, and will
watch it closely. She is happily canceling her appt with the surgeon. :-)
I did search the net and found some info including x-rays of galactoceles,
and from the Liber Herbarum II: Melilotus officinalis,
the treatment for galactoceles is listed as parsley. I could not figure out
how much, etc., I've never been to this site before, just sort of landed
there, and I haven't yet looked at any other herbal info sites.
I thought that was pretty interesting, wonder if parsley is helpful for
plugged ducts. It is one thing that I will tell Moms to eat when trying to
decrease or dry up their milk supply, (along with sage and peppermint). Does
anyone out there use any herbals for plugged ducts?
I am also interested in other's experiences with etiology of plugged ducts,
especially dietary; I knew one mom who got them if she consummed more than a
certain amount of dairy products. I got them if I drank diet sodas.
Thanks again, It is so great to have y'all as colleagues!
Diana
