I am giving a seminar to kibbutz metapelets (child care givers) and
nurses. I asked each one to mention an excuse they heard recently from
mothers who wanted to stop breastfeeding. Listen to these beauties:
FIRST PRIZE:
"I want feeding to be natural." (WHAT?!)
SECOND PRIZE:
"I can't afford professional LC help." (This is from the women who is
paying $22 a can for Rx special formula.)
THIRD PRIZES:
"It reminds me of the cows in the kibbutz dairy."
"I work at the dairy so I can get really fresh whole milk and what can
be better than that?"
"It's not fair to the younger kids."
and my favorite of the week:
"Women on our kibbutz don't breastfeed."
I wonder if that's the kibbutz where they manufacture infant formula.
Don't know if to laugh or cry...
