I am in contact with a mom who has just been diagnosed with Sjogrens
Syndrome, (an autoimmune disease) I have searched the archives and could not
find an answer to this question she posed.

She has severe arthritis, so bad she can not get out of bed at times, and
also severe dryness in the mouth and eyes causing much pain. Her very "pro
breastfeeding" specialist has "suggested" she might try a week without
breastfeeding as he has worked with some moms who found this was the only way
their dryness and arthritis improved.

She does not want to wean permanently and is concerned that she may not be
able to relactate, her baby is 6 months old. She is also concerned that the
stress of relactating may aggravate the disease more if the disease is in
fact aggravated by lactating. I am concerned that in addition to all the
usual risks of abrupt weaning, this would not be a true "trial" of how
breastfeeding is impacting her disease anyway since she would still be
producing, though more slowly through the weaning process.

Does anyone have any resourses or knowledge about Sjogrens Syndrome and
breastfeeding?

Thanks you very much for your knowledgeable support
