From Valerie McClain's post comes:
"Hm...speaking of tobacco--did you know that there is a patent for
producing human lactoferrin in a tobacco plant? patent # 5914448 called
"Process for the preparation of antiviral plant transformed with lactoferrin
gene," filed in 1997 with the assignee being the Koren Institute of Science
and Technology."
Valerie, what great news! Now we don't have to breastfeed our kids, nor
quit smoking! We can just get them started smoking Lactoferrin cigarettes
from day one, and EVERYONE will be happy! This should lead to a repeal of
the ban on advertising tobacco, IMO. (T very much IC)
What kind of a world is it, anyway, when you can't tell the April Fool's
jokes from the real news? I am aware that this patent is NOT a joke.
marveling at life,
