I can't top Marie Davis's attack by toddler as a lactation
consulting-related injury but I was wounded in the line of duty today. I
was renting a Classic to a new mother and she was trying the pump in my
living room. My cat, who is a bit skittish, heard the whooshing sound of
the pump and started to investigate. When she saw the pump and the tubes
she started stalking it. I went over to grab her away and she flipped out
and clawed my arm. I zipped off to the kitchen with the hissing, meowing
cat and looked at my arm covered in blood, wrist to elbow. I did a little
fist aid while mom finished her pumping, while making a mental note to put
the cat out when a breast pump is in operation. Who knew she was terrified
of the pump!
