Nikki, thanks for forwarding the post from Naomi Baumslag.  This part of the
WHO code that gives separate obligations to the companies which manufacture
or distribute breastmilk substitutes, bottles and teat to follow the Code is
extremely important.  It is not enough for them to say 'we follow national
legislation'.

Just at the time we had that mysterious overgrowth of recycled lactnet
posts, I sent something (swallowed up?) responding to someone talking about
buying bottles when they were dicounted.  In my book this violates the Code
just at selling tins of formula at discounted prices does.  [We get this
from time to time in UK supermarkets -- tins on the 'reduced shelf' cos of
damaged label or something].  Also, in the UK the supermarkets do not give
'loyalty' points for purchases of formula -- just as they don't for
cigarettes -- but I don't think I know whether bottles are excluded from
this.  This 'loyalty' point type of discount is also a violation of the WHO
code (and, as it happens our UK law).

Just when you thought you were getting to grips with the code......
