Earlier tonight I was discussing with some of my colleagues the recent cases
we've been dealing with, and two of them commented that they've seen a
number of mothers recently where the baby's sucking is very ineffective,
leading to a low milk supply. In each case, when asked, the mothers reported
long-term epidurals - 10 hours or more (one had it for 19 hours). My friends
said these babies seemed unable to figure out what to do at the breast.
I know, it's just anecdotal evidence. But there it is.
