I can't help but feel that underlying some folks' discomfort with a mom
offering to nurse her 6-year old is the assumption that a 6 year old *should*
be in the process of weaning. (Weaning as defined by "Don't offer, don't
refuse"). Is that really a blanket assumption we want to operate on?
Otherwise, what would be problematic about offering your child a dose of
immune protection or brain growth factor when it happened to cross your mind?
I can imagine that this mom may feel that her play group is probably the only
place she can nurse "in public".
