I have not yet noticed anyone mentioning what is lost on these low-carb
rapid weight loss programs-WATER. Since the storage of carbs (glycogen)
stores 3 units of water for every unit of glycogen, when carbs are cut out,
one stores less water. Also excess protein may cause a dehydrated state.
Since the body is 2/3 water this effects weight loss (water loss) greatly.
Sometimes women will lose 5 pounds in a week on these programs-mostly water
since is practically impossible to burn 3500 X 5 Calories extra a week
(17,500 Calories).
These programs are not recommended by informed nutritionist.
