I am helping to write a "curriculum" that staff can use to teach women
receiving a pump when returning to work (these moms are on Welfare and must
return by the time the baby is 6 months old or lose their cash payments).
The Insurance company is paying for pumps and for the 1-hour educational
intervention.

I left my notes at work, but I think we discussed covering:
1. correct reasons to pump (when away from the baby, not to replace night
feedings with bottles of brest milk or to relieve engorgement.)
2. how to assemble and clean pumps
3. Milk storage
4. guidelines for day care workers
5. Role playing discussion with employer
6. Practice use of pump and feeding methods with baby (by someone other
than mom)
7. "Dress rehearsal" a few days before
8. Times for pumping
9. If employer will not be flexible - you can still breastfeed when you go
home
(sure wish we had a law, but we don't...)

I think these were the main points - anyone have additional points to
cover?
