An organism that refuses to eat is ill. The challenge will be to find out in
what way this baby is ill. Perhaps it would be beneficial to do a swallowing
study. I've seen kids with severe reflux who had ulcers in their throats.
Eating was so painful they were only happy when not eating. As the baby
sleeps, the diminishment of attention may make swallowing bearable. Another
possibility is a sensory integration disorder.
