WHY does his "position on the charts" matter if everything else looks great?
7 or 8 oz in a week is a big gain and you won't see that with all babies. If
the price for seeing such a large gain is to supplement, I wouldn't pay that
price. I'd patiently let the baby grow at his own pace. If baby appears
good on ALL scores and is continuing to gain 2 - 4 oz. a week, but that
doesn't put them on "the charts" that is still perfectly fine. I'm curious
to hear from Lactneters from outside the US if their systems are as heavy a
"chart watchers" as the US system seems to be overall.
I have had three slow gaining babies now that were well below the "charts".
It was only with the third that I knew Dr. Jay Gordon, who repeated ad
infinitum to me to "Look at the baby, not the scale." Simple words that
provided sanity. Thanks Dr. Jay.
