Just thought I'd share about my day...spent volunteering for the BF
cause in a *tiny* cubicle at a maternity/paternity exposition at the
local shopping mall...right across from a multi-national company that
sells baby food and milks. :-(
Saw too many people walk right by us saying "oh, don't need that, don't
want to risk that, that's not for me..." (etc.). :-(
I did see a few nicer cases...a couple of people who had nursed their
baby to :::gasp::: 10 months of age or so. :-( I also learned that one
of our own BF leaders here in Québec city region nursed her last child
to the age of eight, which I thought was very very cool. ;-)
At one point during the day, across the way at Big Company's cubicle
(well, large land-mass, as they'd obviously paid big bucks to have a
large surface area... :-(), there were people lying forward on this
funny massage chair...you know the kinds with a head rest with a hole in
it, to rest your face on? They were being massaged...these ADULTS. I
am not sure what the heck this had to do with infants...nutrition...or
anything...but we pondered over it, and the best we could come up with
was that since this company was giving out samples of their liquid
instant breakfast (just in case you weren't sure which company they
were, you probably know now... :-(), they were giving the poor
unsuspecting adults who were drinking the swill a good burping session.
;-) We got a good laugh out of that.
At least we got 255 visitors today (from 10 am to 5 pm).
::Sigh::
Fio. (back off tomorrow morning to do the 10 am-1:30 pm shift)
--->the worst part of it all is that I'm sure that Big Company's people
there were PAID to be there. Wouldn't it be nice, if everyone bf, if
the government paid us bf volunteers to do our jobs out of the money
they saved in healthcare? ;-) (I know, pipe dreaming again...)
