Here's a great use for frozen breastmilk that's easy to pass off on anyone.
Put *frozen* milk in blender. Add 1 banana (to thicken). Add fruit of your
choice(strawberries, peaches, mango, etc.). Blend until smooth. Tofu can
be added for protein if you wish.
I've used this with my older kids when they were sick and I wanted them to
have a breast milk boost. As a matter of fact, it's the only reason I ever
expressed my milk!
Another tip: Frozen, chopped up breast milk is great for kids w/ sore
throats, or toddlers who are too stopped up to nurse. My kids call it
"brice cream" (for breast milk ice cream). We've talked about avoiding that
"soapy" taste by heat treating the milk before freezing. I didn't do this,
but tried to use any expressed milk w/in a few days.
Warmly,
Lisa Huntze, LLLL, IBCLC
