Cathy, I second what Barbara Wilson Clay has said. This baby should be
immediately worked up for other problems. CF and heart defects come to
mind. If he is losing weight and in pain, there could be other things going
on, of a very serious nature...the blue around the mouth indicates heart
problems to me.

I would say that if this were my patient, that I would make a call to the
attending doctor TODAY, get him/her on the telephone, (not a nurse or
office staff person) and then follow it up with a fax of same information.
Time and date stamped.

The baby should be fed as much as he will take in whatever manner works
best for the baby. Sounds like he has a lot of issues, and maybe an SNS at
breast would be a good idea...to ease his struggle for now....I would say
every other day weight checks would be a good idea, but this baby might end
up hospitalized for closer evaluation, which would make me HAPPY.

Kathleen.

Yikes.
