Lisa makes a very interesting suggestion regarding protecting the
general use of mother's milk.  Isn't it absurd that we even have to
think of such a move!  (I liked her comparison to kudzu, but wonder
if the reference is understood by those who don't live or travel in
the Southeast US.  It is a vine that I understand was originally
imported as an ornamental.  Before long it took over everything.
You'll see entire roadsides covered with a green blanket- over trees
and bushes, over telephone poles and lines, over buildings.  I
wouldn't be surprised to see abandoned cars covered with it.
NOTHING kills it!  At first glance, it looks rather nice, but as you
see more and more miles of it, the novelty soon wears off.)
While I have thought some reactions to patents on components of
human milk to be a little extreme, this comparison reminds me that
what may seem minor or inane at the start can, in time and without
caution, gradually "take over"-sometimes so unobtrusively that you
never knew it was happening.  Thanks to Valerie and others for
keeping the bug in our ears.
