I posted several days ago about my friend I was going with to have surgery
for a lump they found in her breast last week. They were afraid it was
cancer because they couldn't aspirate. I just wanted to tell everyone thanks
for their advice and concern. Praise the Lord it was only a plugged duct.
Just what we thought all along but the Dr's wouldn't listen. I only got
called about this after the surgery was set up. I didn't see this woman
early postpartum or earlier in lactation to know her history but from what
she said about it I could tell she hadn't been emptying breast well and this
sounded like a plug. Dr. told her she would have to wean, I told her no.
Anthes. told her she would have to pump and dump for 24, she questioned him
while I was standing there wanting to know drugs. He said there wasn't any
reseach to know about safety. She said let her know the drugs I was there to
help with info. He was very gracious and loved the Hale book. Started
looking up other stuff he uses on a regular basis. The Nurse Anthes. did
the same. She nursed within 4 hrs of surgery and is doing great. Her
surgeon made a snide remark during surgery ( She refused a general and had a
local, which they thought she was crazy) that if a plug happens again she
will need to wean. She let that roll right off her back. Its a shame she
went through all that for nothing but a plugged duct. I would have suggested
other treatment, but didn't want to interfere with Dr orders at such a late
date. She asked for a quick path. report the Dr. obviously could tell
himself when he got in their it was a plugged duct (a hunk of cheese)lol. Of
course it wouldn't aspirate. I feel they all learned a valuable lesson on
how to treat a lactating woman, about Drugs with surgery, etc. Maybe that
was the reason for all this.
Thanks for the prayers and concerns.
