Anne Wright is an anthropologist. Her research work is *mostly* done with
Navajo women and children on the Navajo reservation in Arizona. I have
heard her speak about the asthma research, but honestly can't remember much
about it. I do know that she is very pro-breastfeeding and wishes that her
data did not cast any aspersions at all on breastfeeding. She does not
conclude that mothers shouldn't breastfeed.
We have to remember that it is perfectly possible for breastfeeding to have
adverse effects IN CONJUNCTION WITH specific other suites of genetic and
environmental variables. And that one must always weigh the risks of
breastfeeding under those circumstances against the risks of formula
feeding.
