There seems to be general agreement that in looking for a term to
use with the general public, we may have different criteria than
terms to use among ourselves. I fully agree that we don't want to
turn someone off from listening to what we say. At the same time,
it would be great to have a term that would not be percieved as
judgemental (as in "artificial"), but at the same time would not
have anything attractive or encouraging about it( as in "formula").
That ideal term still eludes us.
Among ourselves, I like the one that was suggested ( I think tongue
in cheek)- "that other stuff". Perhaps we could expand it a little
to "That Other Silly Stuff". The initials would accurately describe
what we'd like to do with it most of the time.
