Hi there...I've been following the mastitis thread and don't believe that
BROMELAIN was mentioned as a very effective anti-inflammatory for mastitis
(acute or chronic). In my very numerous ductal yeast patients (including
many long distance patients following the publication of my Mothering Mag
article on Yeast), I always treat for inflammation as well as the yeast.
Bromelain (derived from pineapple) is used by the dairy industry for dairy
cows that have chronic mastitis, but it also helps clear fungal infections
that are causing repeated plugged ducts and stringy milk. Take bromelain
capsules in between meals TID at a dose of 250-500 mg. The effect is very
rapid (within 12-24 hours, sometimes as quickly as 4 hours though). This is
just another "trick" that I use along with many others such as oral
lecithin, various supplements (including vit C and B complex), and massage
with olive oil with a few drops of GSE (both have anti-infective properties)
together. If you need clarification, email me. If you want to see the
yeast article, I believe it is posted on MOTHERING.com.
