I received a request from someone in Latin America about a mother with
gestational diabetes during the last two months of pregnancy. She was
treated with "corticoids" during the pregnancy and delivered at 38 weeks
by cesarean a baby that weighed 4.7K. She has been successfully
breastfeeding, but since the baby was 6 months old her MD has been
pressuring her to stop breastfeeding and stop breastfeeding so she can take
the medications that will stabilize her blood sugar. She has gained 12K
since delivery despite the help of a dietitian, and has a very difficult
time maintaining stable blood sugar levels, including emergency room visits
due to hypoglycemia.

She is taking "Tiroxina". Her MD wants her to start "Xenical" for control
of "fats" and "Mepformina" to control the "low Insulin levels"

(Problem - I don't have the generic names, I've requested them... Can't
find them in Hale)

Her husband is very upset and wants her to stop breastfeeding to avoid
additional risk to mom.

Can anyone provide me with any idea what these meds are and what
alternatives are there? Thanks!
