I would make sure the mother insists that the incision is *not* peri-areolar
(a favourite of many surgeons). Also, radial rather than circumferential,
as small as possible and as far away from the areola as possible. Also, not
to put a dressing over the nipple. The mother should feed as soon as
possible (which means as soon as she is awake and up to it) after the
surgery, to prevent engorgement.
