Dear Friends,
Someone posted me privately to comment that my recent post on diarrhea
appeared to her to be a slam at 2 yr. nurses. Nothing could have been
further from my mind. I was merely speculating on why someone would have
given a mother information 10 yrs out of date. Speculation is risky, and I
suppose I should have just left out of the post any excuses for why this bad
info was provided. I have no idea how 2 yr. nurses are prepared or what
anyone knows or doesn't know. I often feel badly for nurses that they are
put into situations where people expect them to have bfg info that they have
never been trained to know. I guess I was assuming that in a 2 yr program
there would have been even less time to focus on bfg ed. I am sure there
are 2 yr plan nurses who have self-educated to a marvelous extent and are
functioning capably as LCs. It was not my intent to hurt anyone's feelings
and I'm sorry if this remark came across as a criticism in general of 2 yr
nurses. The thrust of the post was to try to provide information on
diarrhea to be shared with pedi practices and a way to tactfully do that.
