I heard last week of a curious case of a women who failed to lactate; first
baby. She is a health professional and was highly motivated to breastfeed.
She apparently had all the tests under the sun, including endocrinological -
but don't ask me which tests because I don't know, I was just told the
testing was very comprehensive. No trouble getting pregnant. She is
otherwise healthy with no pre-existing conditions.

At the end of it all, the only thing they could find in her history was that
the woman's mother was on the old high-dose oestrogen pill at the time she
conceived, and presumably during early pregnancy (I assume this was the
60's).

Has anyone come across this before as a possible risk factor for primary
lactation failure, or does anyone know why it might be a risk factor?
