Greetings great minds,
I have a mom with ruptured saline implant on one breast. Doctors have
all told her no problem to continue nursing, and is going to have surgery
soon to remove and replace. Problem no. 1, According to mom baby (7 days
old) went from normal breastmilk stools to "mostly water" her description
within 2 days of rupture. Concern about loss of nutrition and becoming
dehydrated. My first suggestion was to nurse only on the breast without the
rupture and see if the stools returned to normal. Meanwhile express the
other side to protect that sides milk supply. Also, let her baby' s
pediatrician know about the bowel movement change in case it changes his
attitude about no problem continuing to nurse on that side. Problem #2
Suggested she contact surgeon to see about being able to do this surgery on a
lactating breast and then we can go from there. If she has to wean from that
side to have the surgery, will she be able to back to it and how long after
the surgery will she have to wait?

Thanks in advance for your input. I searched archives and found questions
regarding the same thing, but could not find the answers.
