Dear Lactnetters,
I am pretty excited. One of my pediatricians is breastfeeding her 4 month
old son and has started collecting for the Denver Milk Bank. She came to
me asking for help presenting to the next OB-Peds Committee at the end of
the month, so we can store banked milk, and have it available for the few
babies we supplement!!!
I have obtained info from the Denver and Austin Milk Banks, and Riordon and
Lawrence's books, and would appreciate ANY words of wisdom, advice,
experience any of you have had establishing and utilizing banked milk. My
director is all in favor, and the hospital will absorb the cost, because in
her words, "We don't charge patients for food, it is considered a standard
of care". Sweet, huh?
Thank you in advance for your assistance,
Catherine Pridie RN BSN IBCLC
