Aloha all,
Hoping for any info you may have. I have a mom with a four month old baby.
When baby was three months old mom started with very bad acne. First time
ever. Her period also returned at this time as well. Her dermatologist
prescribed Differin topically once a day. Doctor knows she is breastfeeding.
He blames the breastfeeding. He told her if the acne doesn't clear up she
should stop breastfeeding---the acne will cause bad scars. Mom knows the
importance of breastfeeding, but fears the effects of the acne.
She is also concerned about the medicine. I read to her from Hale's. She
felt a little better and has decided to be extra cautious and apply the
Differin at night as baby doesn't wake to nurse. However a friend of hers
who is a researcher said that the medication was dangerous even to her.
Any suggestions for helping with the acne as well as references for the
doctor who is blaming the breastfeeding?
Thanks
Aloha,
